Coco Gauff Shatters Racket in Emotional Exit from Australian Open

MELBOURNE, Australia — The Australian Open journey ended for Coco Gauff on Tuesday. The third-seeded star faced a hard loss against Elina Svitolina. The match score was 6-1, 6-2.

JK News reports that Gauff struggled with her rhythm. She recorded five double faults in the first set. Svitolina took full advantage of these errors. The entire match lasted only 59 minutes.

An Emotional Moment Caught on Camera

Gauff is usually very calm on the court. However, the pressure in Melbourne was high. After the match, she smashed her racket into a concrete floor. She tried to find a private spot.

Unfortunately, cameras were everywhere in Rod Laver Arena. Gauff expressed her frustration about this later. “Certain moments do not need to be broadcast,” she told JK News reporters. She believes players need more private spaces at tournaments.

Match Statistics and Performance

It was an unusually bad day for the 21-year-old. Gauff made 26 unforced errors during the game. She won only 2 of 11 points on her second serve.

Svitolina played a very solid game. She stayed focused and broke Gauff’s serve multiple times. This is Gauff’s second straight quarterfinal exit in Melbourne.

Support for Her Team

Despite her anger, Gauff did not blame her coaches. She said her team consists of good people. “They do not deserve my frustration,” she told JK News.

Gauff felt that breaking a racket was a better release. It helped her process the loss privately. She remains a strong force in global tennis. Fans are now looking forward to her next tournament.
